We saw Dr Keller for the post 3-month treatment vacation visit last week. We were not surprised, but nonetheless disappointed to see the tumors had all grown, pretty much doubled in size. There are 3 tumors in the lungs, one in the kidney and one in the adrenal gland, which had looked so normal just a few months ago. Dang it, cancer is just as relentless as we've always known it to be.
Thankfully, there are still options: A) go back on Votrient, B) find a clinical trial, or C) try something new. We have decided to go with option C and started Axitinib (aka Inlyta) on Saturday. Axitinib is supposed to be a more narrowly targeted treatment, so theoretically if the process it targets is the cause of the tumor growth it should work better than Votrient. Also theoretically, it might have less severe side effects, which would be wonderful. Of course, all of that remains to be seen. The plan is to take Axitinib for 2 months, run scans and go from there.
Thank you for faithfully praying for us for over 7 years of ups and downs, and for once again praying that Bobby will have strength, energy and positive attitude to persevere through this next round.

We're looking forward to the day when Dr. Keller scratches his head in amazement that Bobby has beaten the cancer that has not been able to rob your family of its faith and joy. We are so happy that the tumors are shrinking again and will continue to keep you and your family in prayer as you fight this battle. Although I certainly would never wish this trial on you or anyone, I believe the Lord is using you in mighty ways. I'm certain it is not been an easy road to walk, but your strong faith and godly perspective is such an inspiration and a witness to those whom your lives. It is wonderful that your family is growing and we share that joy with you.
