Didn't have a great checkup today. The tumor in the right adrenal gland is continuing to progress, about a 20% growth. There are also three nodules in the lungs, but they remain relatively stable.
After a short review of the options, we decided to stay on the clinical trial, but bump up to the stronger dose which is 4mg/kilo vs 1mg/kilo. It was a bit of a scramble, but they were able to get the higher dose in time to infuse it today. The day was much longer than expected, so we're both pretty tired. Bobby is more tired, of course - he can already tell the difference in terms of fatigue.
Obviously, we are disappointed, but still hopeful. The plan is to try this for 4 treatments, then scan again in May. There are a couple of other options on the horizon as well, so we'll just take it as it comes.
To keep this all in perspective, when the cancer first returned in the lungs in September 2006, the statistics were that the average life expectancy for metasticized kidney cancer was 14 months. That was 54 months ago, and we are still counting. We are thankful for the new options that are available, and we are thankful that the grace of God is not bound by statistics.
And we are thankful for everyone who checks on us, prays for us. We're thankful for YOU.

Wish you had gotten better news. But I'm thankful for the quadruple dose of medicine! Bobby looks SO GOOD! We continue to marvel at his ability to fight this mess and to make it look so effortless -which I know for a fact, is not! Bless you both. Praying for you both.
well, it may not have been the news you were looking for, but the God we serve has been in control from the start. None of this is a surprise to Him. His love for you both has not diminished one iota. He is still in control and we give Him praise for every day that He chooses to give to each of us.
Thanks for the update. We love you and will continue to pray that God will give you both the strength you need each day, one day at a time.
