Hmmm...we're not sure exactly what to think of the latest developments. Last Tuesday, Dr Keller asked us if it was okay to consult with Dr Sosman, and of course we said sure. But when he called us on Saturday afternoon, we were a bit surprised that he didn't recommend surgery. Instead, he is suggesting that we schedule a needle biopsy on the questionable spot on the left lung (the lingula, for those in the know) to determine exactly what's going on there. If there's cancer in the lungs, he doesn't see value in going through the surgery to remove the adrenal gland.
Dr Keller didn't have a good alternative plan, although we know of some other drugs that might be a possibility, and he did mention a clinical trial. So, we are very much in limbo about the next step. I hate being in limbo. I'd much prefer having a plan, even if The Plan isn't perfect.
Uncertainty is difficult, but we are choosing to look at this as an opportunity to explore all options before making the irreversable decision to have surgery. To be spared the pain and aggravation of surgery is a good thing, but as always we want to be as aggressive as possible.
In the meantime, Bobby signed up for Dam Jam 2010, a 55 mile bike race, on Sept 11, and we look forward to OU & OSU football, a wedding to attend in PA in October, and just enjoying the time we have. Life goes on in Limbo Land.
