Ever seen that scene where the runner finally crosses the finish line of the marathon, battered and bruised, aching from head to toe, limping but not giving up? Well, that's pretty much where we are this morning.
The dose yesterday afternoon pushed Bobby to the limit - besides the sheer exhaustion, his blood pressures dropped again even though he was maxed out on the neo drip. At that point we weren't too sorry to have to miss the 10pm dose, thinking at least he'd get some rest overnight. But of course that didn't happen. He had stomach issues all night, and then, just to keep it interesting, during the 4:30am trip to the bathroom he somehow managed to pull out the PICC line! We had a scary few minutes there, first figuring out what happened, then worrying about his blood pressure dropping without the continuous neo drip that was keeping it up. But the nurses acted quickly, got a peripheral line started and got everything stabilized.
I feel terrible that I didn't help him get to the bathroom. I fell asleep and didn't hear anything until he called out for me to come look. I'm sure he just didn't want to wake me up again, as we'd been up and down all night. This caregiving job is hard work!
We should be released today, if the blood pressure returns to normal without the neo drip. We'll head back to Memphis for a few days, then home again. It'll be at least six weeks before we know how successful the treatment has been, and where we go from there.
Just like in that scene at the finish line, where there's always a small but enthusiastic crowd cheering on the weary runner, you all have been the cheerleaders and encouragers we have both needed to endure this race. Thanks again for your prayers, support and friendship.

May God quickly renew your strength. I'm certain there is a much larger crowd at the finish line cheering than you can possibly imagine. We will continue to pray for a good report.
